Following the disturbances in Nkoranza, which led to the death of one person, the Techiman Circuit Court on Friday remanded four (4) people who it believes are directly connected to it.
The four are believed to have instigated the disturbances and a further raid of the Nkoranza police station.
They are to reappear before the courts in 2 weeks’ time.
The rioting in the town, particularly involving the youth, was in response to the alleged shooting to kill of one Albert Donkor by the police. Several others who were injured in the process have since been hospitalised.
The Police Administration said they are pleased with the performance of their officers on the ground. However, the family of the late Albert Donkor has accused the police of deliberately killing their son.
Commenting on the remand, the Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South, Hon. Emmanuel Kwodwo Agyekum, expressed his disappointment in the decision of the courts to place value on those who have destroyed property over those [the police] who have taken someone’s life.
