Leading candidates for the NPP Flagbearership slot, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, are scheduled to be vetted by the party today, July 3, 2023.

Another candidate, Kwadwo Poku, will also meet the vetting committee today.

A communiqué from the party on Friday, June 30th, noted that about 10 candidates who have filed their nominations will be vetted between Monday, July 3rd, 2023, and Thursday, July 6th, 2023.

The committee is chaired by the immediate past Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Rev. Prof. Mike Aaron Ocquaye.

Other members of the committee include Hackman Owusu Agyeman, Stephen Abankwa Sekyere, Kwasi Amoako Atta, Lord Commey, Lawyer Frank Davies, Rita Talata Asobayire, Adelaide Ahwireng, Osei Bonsu Amoah, and Evans Nimako.

The party had earlier indicated it would hold a preliminary election on August 26, 2023, for the candidates who will be successful in this week’s vetting to shortlist 5.

It also set November 4, 2023, for its main presidential primaries to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 elections.

The Vice President and former Trade Minister have, since filing their nomination forms, been engaging delegates in various constituencies.
