The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cleared all 47 aspirants who filed nominations to contest its 2026 National Officers Elections.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) said the decision followed a four-day vetting exercise conducted from August 31 to September 3, 2026, by the National Officers Election Vetting Committee (NOEVC).
The vetting committee examined the documentation submitted by the aspirants, interacted with them and considered the applicable eligibility requirements before submitting its report to the NOEC.
“NOEC is pleased to announce that the Vetting Committee has recommended that all forty-seven (47) aspirants who appeared before it are suitable and eligible to contest for the respective positions for which they filed their nominations,” the committee said in a statement signed by its Chairman, Frederick Opare-Ansah.
Accordingly, all 47 aspirants have been cleared to contest, subject to the remaining processes provided under the rules governing the elections.
The cleared aspirants are contesting across nine national officer positions. Four aspirants have been cleared for National Chairman, 13 for National Vice-Chairperson, four for General Secretary, four for National Treasurer, eight for National Organiser, six for National Youth Organiser, two for National Women’s Organiser, five for National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser and one for National Communications Director.
The NOEC said the next stage of the electoral process would be balloting to determine the positions of aspirants on the ballot paper.
The balloting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the NPP Headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.
According to the committee, specific times for the balloting for the respective positions will be communicated directly to the aspirants.
Aspirants are expected to participate in the exercise either in person or through their duly authorised representatives.
The NOEC urged all aspirants and their representatives to cooperate fully with the committee to ensure an orderly and transparent balloting process.
The committee expressed appreciation to the Chairperson and members of the NOEVC for the “diligence, professionalism and commitment” with which they conducted the vetting exercise.
It also commended the 47 aspirants for their cooperation and conduct throughout the exercise and thanked party members, officials, supporters, the media and the general public for their continued interest in the electoral process.
The NOEC said it remained committed to conducting the remaining stages of the elections in a “fair, transparent, orderly and credible” manner.
