Kumbungu Binbiem FC, a newly promoted Division One club in Zone One, was crowned winner of the Naa Gbewaa Charity Cup held at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
After a 3:3 full-time tie, the winner defeated a division two club, Kasalgu Arrow Heads, in a penalty shootout, by 5 goals to 4.
The tournament was organized for only four clubs, namely the Premier League team Real Tamale United (RTU), two teams in Division One (Kumbungu Binbiem FC and Steadfast FC), and a Division Two club, Kasalgu Arrow Heads FC.
Mr. Abu Baba, Executive Director of the Dagbon Excellence Foundation, noted in an address that they came out with this initiative of football matches to promote peace and unity within Northern Ghana.
