The Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, today launched the National Health Insurance Scheme mobile application for Ghanaian citizens.
He launched this mobile app during the “Active Month of December” under the theme, “The Role of Digitalization in Modern Healthcare Delivery: Recounting Ghana’s ICT Journey in the 4th Republic,” held at the Tamale campus of the University of Development Studies.
He stated that the My NHIS APP mobile app will assist Ghanaians in registering as National Health Insurance members as well as registering others as a third party at their leisure.
This mobile application will also be helpful to politicians, institutions, and organizations that always assist in registering and renewing residents and constituents on the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, thanked the Vice President for the introduction of the self-renewal service of the NHIS, before which members needed to form long queues before they could renew or activate their cards.
He added that the timely intervention of the *929# shortcode really helped the scheme during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
