The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has urged the public to disregard reports claiming that the INTERPOL Red Notice issued for accused person Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta has been withdrawn, describing such publications as “borne of mischief and misinformation.”
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, the OSP explained that proceedings before the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) are still ongoing.
According to the statement, the CCF informed Ghanaian authorities in October that Mr Ofori-Atta had applied for the removal of his name from INTERPOL’s Red Notice system, prompting a request for Ghana’s official response, which was submitted on 22 October 2025.
The Commission followed up on 7 November 2025, notifying authorities that Mr Ofori-Atta had filed additional arguments in an addendum. Ghana has been asked to respond to these new submissions by 21 November 2025.
“The proceedings are still pending and the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files is still studying the case,” the OSP stated.
It added that during ongoing proceedings, it is standard practice for the applicant’s “name, image and details” to be redacted from public view until a final determination is reached.
The OSP therefore advised the public to ignore any claims suggesting the Red Notice has been cancelled or altered before the CCF concludes its review.
