Poem: “The End” by Reynold Adjei

THE END

We’re living just like our
Predecessors; we’re charting the paths they chartered only we’re
Doing so in our name.

There’s nothing new under the sun, nothing which will happen that will surprise those who have gone
Before us.

Each day draws us closer to our end, draws us to the inevitable hole that’s
Waiting to swallow us into its womb.
We will soon expire and our stories will be told as history.

Life has a way of making you feel you’re on top of your game one moment, and causing you to feel like you’re the most miserable of all the next moment.

So these ups and downs and rollercoaster rides, what do they teach us??
They teach us that this life is temporary.

This life has nothing to offer; it’s just a transit and a preparatory grounds for eternity.
How pathetic are those who live like this world is all there is to our existence!

Wake up if you carry such thoughts and start living like a sojourner, because when it’s all said and done, this flesh will decay in the grave but your soul will be found wanting.

Is that what you want??
I firmly believe no; that’s not what you want. So start living right so you’ll have a lot to be glad about in eternity. Selah!
