The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has disclosed that a committee set up to review public sector recruitments and promotions made after the December 7 elections has completed its work, resulting in the revocation of 541 appointments while upholding 1,539 others.
In a statement issued on March 3, 2023, the Minister said the committee, constituted by the Chief of Staff, was tasked to examine the revocation of recruitments, appointments and promotions made into the Public Service following the general elections.
According to the findings, a total of 2,080 individuals were initially affected by the directive for revocation. However, after a thorough review, 1,201 appointments were upheld on the grounds that they complied with due process and established procedures.
The committee also upheld the appointments of 338 persons with disability, affirming that their recruitment met the necessary legal and administrative requirements.
However, 541 appointments were revoked after the review found that they failed to comply with due process.
The Minister indicated that the review exercise was aimed at ensuring fairness, transparency and strict adherence to public service regulations in the aftermath of the elections.
