The Tamale High Court has fined the former Savannah Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress, Inusah Abdulai, GHC 20,000 for filing an unmerited case against his party.
His Lordship Justice Eric Ansah Ankomah, who presided over the case, disclosed that a petition was filed by Inusah Abdulai and one Sorku Kassim Yahuza for not allowing Salaga South Constituency Executives to contest the NDC’s regional executive election held in Damongo.
The court added that, at the time of the election, the tenure of office of the Salaga South constituency executives was due and they had no voting rights.
Accordingly, His Lordship Justice Eric Ansah Ankomah ruled that the case was frivolous, vexatious, and unmeritorious and fined Inusah Abdulai GhC 20,000 in favour of the defendants.
Speaking in an interview with The Sikaman Times, counsel for the defendants, Lawyer Salisu Be-Awuribe Issifure, observed that the plaintiff declined to listen to advice and warnings for his actions, insisting on pursuing the case.
Lawyer Issifu added that the Plaintiff won the last regional executive’s election by eight (8) votes, which his contender (Inusah Abdulai) did not complain about, nor did he file a court action.
“The party will pursue the plaintiff for the fine to be paid and use him as a scapegoat for other party members who fail to listen to advice and warnings”, Lawyer Issifu noted further.
