The Savannah Regional Women’s Wing of the NDC has held an inauguration of the working committee and capacity building in Buipe at the Hon. Jinapor Conference Room, under the leadership of Hajia Afishetu Bawa Doshie, the Savannah Regional Women’s Organiser.
Hon. Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Aide to H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and the Patron of the Savannah Women Working Committee said that every individual has a quota to contribute, and men in the Savannah region need to recognise the importance and impact of women in attaining victory in elections.
She revealed that, in the nomination of Prof. Naana Opoku Agyeman as the running mate for the 2020 elections, she had some doubts, but today the New Patriotic Party is confused about whether to go for a female as their running mate.
“This indicates that the National Democratic Congress is always the pacesetter in every positive direction, and let’s be proud of the opportunities given to us,” she added.
Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Yapei/Kusawgu Constituency, pleaded with members to bury their differences and issues against each other and focus on how to work together to win the 2024 general elections.
He added that being in opposition for eight years is not easy, as members of parliament on the minority side work directly with their own funds, which is not flexible for their various constituencies.
Alhaji Seidu Imoro, Savannah Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, indicated that they can only attain 7 seats in the region with the involvement of all, including women, campaigning for victory in the general elections.
The programme was aimed at mobilising and planning strategies on how to canvass votes for President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress.
The occasion was graced by national executives, regional executives, the Council of Elders, constituency women organisers, and party faithful.
