The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates in Ghana.

Heads of schools will receive login credentials to access their candidates’ results, while individuals can check their results online at www.waecgh.org. WAEC has issued a warning to stakeholders, urging them to avoid fraudsters who claim to alter results for a fee.

“Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated using its results verification system,” the Council stated, highlighting that the WAEC QR code is available for result verification.

A total of 460,611 candidates took part in the 2024 exams, representing a 2.66% increase from the 448,674 recorded in 2023. Among the candidates, 212,954 were male and 247,657 were female, while 4,609 students were absent during the examination period.

English Language and Social Studies recorded the highest pass rates, with 69.52% and 71.53% of candidates scoring grades A1 to C6, respectively. Mathematics followed closely, with 66.86% of candidates achieving top grades, while Integrated Science trailed with a pass rate of 58.77%.

In English Language, 69.52% of candidates scored between A1 and C6, 8.65% scored D7, 5.53% obtained E8, and 5.88% received F9. Mathematics saw 66.86% of candidates attaining A1 to C6, 5.40% securing D7, 4.69% earning E8, and 6.10% ending with F9. For Integrated Science, 58.77% of candidates achieved grades A1 to C6, while 8.69% scored D7, 6.47% received E8, and 7.12% scored F9. Social Studies recorded 71.53% of candidates with A1 to C6, 9.03% with D7, 6.44% with E8, and 9.55% with F9.
