Washington, D.C. is set to host a major Africa–United States economic and investment gathering when the African Ambassadors’ Economic Forum (AAEFORUM) 2026 convenes from July 16 to 19 at the Westin Crystal City Hotel.
The forum, unveiled by the Global Initiative for the Advancement of Africa (GIAA), a U.S.-based nonprofit focused on advancing Africa’s economic transformation, is being positioned as one of the leading platforms for Africa–U.S. economic diplomacy, trade, and investment cooperation.
AAEFORUM 2026 is expected to bring together African Ambassadors, Members of Congress, governors, ministers, investors, business leaders, development institutions, entrepreneurs, and policy experts from Africa and the United States to explore partnerships aimed at boosting economic growth and competitiveness across the continent.
According to organisers, the initiative is driven by a Pan-African vision led by co-founders Dr. Utchay Odims and Dr. David James Egwu, who said the platform has evolved into a hub for converting dialogue into investment and actionable outcomes.
“Africa stands at a defining moment in history. The continent possesses the talent, resources, innovation, and demographic advantage to become a leading force in the global economy,” Dr. Egwu said, adding that the forum is designed to translate opportunity into measurable development impact.
Dr. Odims also emphasized that the forum goes beyond dialogue, describing it as “a results-driven platform that facilitates investment, trade, innovation, job creation, and strategic partnerships.”
The 2026 edition is expected to attract delegates from more than 30 African countries and will feature high-profile speakers, including Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, former African Union Commission Chairperson Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and Pan-African scholar Professor P.L.O. Lumumba, among others.
Organisers say the event will build on previous editions that hosted senior U.S. and African leaders, diplomats, and global investors, positioning AAEFORUM as a growing hub for Africa–U.S. engagement.
The four-day programme will include a main summit, panel discussions, ministerial sessions, B2B and B2G engagements, cultural diplomacy events, Africa Day celebrations, and a CEO Global Awards Gala.
Key thematic areas will include energy transition, infrastructure development, digital transformation, governance, healthcare, trade, and job creation, aligned with Africa’s Agenda 2063.
The organisers are inviting governments, investors, development partners, private sector actors, and media organisations to participate, sponsor, or exhibit at the event as preparations intensify toward July 2026.
