NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the NPP administration has executed about 80% of its 2020 manifesto.
Responding to a question by a journalist at an engagement with the media on Sunday, Dr. Bawumia argued the NPP has a better track record of achievability of manifesto pledges as compared to their major opponent, the NDC.
Dr. Bawumia compared the NPP government’s performance to that of the NDC led by former President John Mahama, whom Dr. Bawumia stated only fulfilled 28% of his 2012 manifesto promises.
“I think that we have a very pretty record in terms of honouring our promises. We’ve done some work to look at our 2016 manifesto and what proportion of those manifestos we’ve honoured, and 83 percent have been honoured. And when you look at the 2020 manifesto, even in the midst of all these crises, we are fulfilling or we’ve fulfilled 80 percent of our 2020 promises in our manifesto.”
“My opponent, in his 2012 manifesto when he became president, only fulfiled 28 percent of his 2012 manifesto, 280 promises; he didn’t fulfil 203 of the 280 promises. So, I think we have a better record as far as fulfilling promises.”
The NPP presidential candidate, however, stated that it was not possible for any president to fulfil all their manifesto pledges.
