Scores of residents at Duadaso No 2, a suburb of the Jaman North District of the Bono region, have been rendered homeless following a heavy downpour which started in the early morning of yesterday, Tuesday, August 30 and continued into Wednesday afternoon.

The Assembly Member for Duadaso No 2 electoral area, Honourable Sah Kwame Emmanuel, in an interview with Kwaku Mensah Abrampa on Gye Nyame FM’s morning show, indicated that a lot of people within his electoral area were rendered homeless as a result of what he described as shoddy work by the road contractor who was awarded the Sampa-Duadaso road as a result of work not done on a gutter within the community that was constructed by the contractor.

He added that the contractor during his time at the site offloaded some chippings on the waterways, which have now blocked the movement and free flow of water when it rains, hence the flooding.

He stresses that the situation on the Sampa-Duadaso road has now deteriorated to a state that needs serious and critical attention, indicating that the flood has entered a lot of homes and has affected a series of properties.

The assembly member added that his outfit has written a series of letters to the District assembly to ensure the contractor is back at the site, but all his efforts have been futile.

He has therefore called on the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to come to the aid of the victims since some of them are sleeping at church places or in schools within the community.

He also called on the government to search for the whereabouts of the contractor and bring him back to the site as expected.
