Agrico Hub, a business innovation hub, has trained about 30 youth in website development at Techiman in the Bono East Region.
Mrs. Eunice Baah Damoah, the program lead for Agricohub in the Techiman Municipality, stated that Agricohub is basically a youth centre where they give basic start-up skills to youth to help them start their own business because they believe that there is an unemployment rate in Ghana.
She disclosed that they are training these youths in web development with the aim of providing them with basic skills that they can use to start their own business.
“We are helping them to develop or learn how to develop websites, and in the end, they could use these websites to earn something out of it, either by using them to help grow their business or even help others by creating websites for them and getting money,” she stated.
She noted further that the whole project is for six months, and out of that, they will use six weeks for the web development training, after which some will be sent out for internships.
“With those that have developed business ideas and skills during the training that they will want to grow, the organization will keep them and help them learn skills that they will be able to grow the business idea that they have developed during the training; This is known as incubation, and both incubation and internship will be paid for,” she added.
The Agrico Hub in Techiman has so far trained more young people in a variety of skills, including females in ICT and e-commerce, among others.
The company adopts innovative business development and digital technology solutions to support early-stage entrepreneurs and small and growing businesses (SGBs) in agribusiness, trade & commerce, and services.
