ACI Ghana president Lawrence Osilaja Boampong has been elected ACI Africa president following elections held during the ACI FMA Council Meeting in Accra, Ghana, from May 18 to 20, 2026.
He has also been appointed to the ACI Financial Markets Association (ACI FMA) Global Management Board.
The appointments were confirmed at the conclusion of the council meeting, which brought together financial markets practitioners from across the ACI global network to deliberate on governance and industry development issues.
In a statement, the ACI Ghana Financial Market Association described the development as a significant leadership milestone for the region and expressed support for his tenure. The association stated: “We look forward to witnessing the impact, strategic growth, and innovation his tenure will unlock for the African financial landscape. From all of us at ACI Ghana, we wish him success.”
Boampong brings nearly 14 years of experience in financial markets, with a background spanning treasury operations, fixed income, and foreign exchange trading. He currently serves as Head of Financial Markets at CalBank Plc, where he oversees sales, trading, and investment strategy across FX, fixed income, and structured products.
He has previously held senior treasury and fixed income roles at GCB Bank Plc and Fidelity Bank Ghana, contributing to institutional trading and market development initiatives. He also serves on the Ghana Fixed Income Market (GFIM) Governing Committee.
Within ACI Ghana, Boampong is serving his second term as president and has been involved in initiatives aimed at market development, including the organisation of a regional Financial Markets Conference and the recently concluded ACI World Congress
He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG). He holds a First-Class degree from the University of Ghana Business School, a Master’s degree, and an ACI Dealing Certificate.
His appointment to the ACI FMA Global Management Board is expected to strengthen African representation in global financial market governance discussions, particularly in areas relating to market standards, capacity building, and integration with international benchmarks.
