Adamus Resources Limited has welcomed a government-backed framework to address challenges facing its mining operation and support efforts to return the mine to sustainable production.
The company said the outcome of a meeting at the Presidency marks a significant step towards securing the future of the Adamus mine and protecting the interests of its employees, contractors, suppliers, host communities and other stakeholders.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the company on August 21.
Under the agreed framework, Adamus Resources, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Minerals Commission will jointly develop a 12-month roadmap aimed at turning around the mine.
A six-member management team, made up of three representatives from Adamus and three from the government, will oversee the implementation of the turnaround programme.
Adamus said the arrangement would provide the parties with a structured platform to address the challenges confronting the operation while preserving the mine’s contribution to Ghana’s mining industry and the wider economy.
“This collaborative approach gives all parties an opportunity to focus on what matters most: preserving and rebuilding a strategically important Ghanaian mining operation while protecting value for the country and its stakeholders,” the company said.
The company also acknowledged concerns among workers, businesses and communities affected by recent developments, particularly in the Western Region, where the mine supports livelihoods and economic activity.
It assured employees, contractors, suppliers, host communities, business partners and investors of its continued commitment to the mine and urged stakeholders to remain calm and supportive as the agreed process progresses.
Adamus said it would continue engaging with the government and relevant institutions and provide updates as the turnaround programme unfolds.
“Adamus Resources Limited is committed to working within the agreed twelve-month framework in good faith and with a clear focus on restoring the mine to a stronger and more sustainable footing,” it said.
The company said the framework provides renewed hope and a structured opportunity for stakeholders to work collectively towards resolving the challenges facing the operation.
