The MP for Adentan, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, has commissioned a CHPS (Community-based Health Planning and Services) compound at Foster Home Down in the Adentan Constituency.
This new facility will serve residents of the Koose electoral area, the New Legon electoral area, and parts of the Gbentana electoral area.
During the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Ramadan emphasized that accessible healthcare facilities are a priority in his service to the constituency. “As their servant,” he said, “I saw the necessity to champion this project and improve health conditions in the community.”
In addition to commissioning the CHPS compound, Hon. Ramadan donated hospital equipment worth thousands of Ghana cedis to health centres within the constituency. The items included hospital beds, bedding, washing machines, and essential medical consumables.
Hon. Ramadan further noted that, since assuming office as MP in 2021, he has made it a yearly priority to allocate funds specifically for healthcare, collaborating effectively with the municipal health authorities on the relevant items to provide.
“Since I became MP four years ago, I ensure to make some allocation of my health fund for the public health facilities in my constituency. I ensure to liaise with the municipal health directorate and conduct a needs assessment based on which I procure the needed items for their use,” he stated.
He added that this year’s donation was made from funds allocated in 2023 and encouraged the beneficiary health centres to put the items to good use.
The MP also announced plans to organise free health screenings and to support the registration and renewal of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) subscriptions for constituents.
Furthermore, Hon. Adamu Ramadam announced plans to seek additional support from the Lordina Mahama Foundation, which focuses on healthcare assistance for facilities in the constituency.
Officials from the Municipal Health Directorate expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the assembly, recognising Hon. Ramadan’s consistent dedication to addressing the healthcare needs of the community.
The Secretary of the Ashiyie Landlord Association expressed similar gratitude, praising the MP’s vision and commitment and highlighting the new CHPS compound as a valuable asset to the community.
Management and staff of the health facilities, for their part, expressed their thanks, observing that the donations would significantly improve healthcare delivery in the constituency, reducing the need for residents to seek health services in Madina and Accra.
