Aisha Huang, Accomplices Refused Bail by Court

Aisha Huang, together with three other Chinese nationals, has been denied bail by the Accra Circuit Court 9, where they are standing trial for illegally trading in minerals.

Aisha was charged with mining without a license and engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a license.

The three others, namely Johng Li Hua, Huang Jei, and Huaid Hai Hun, were also charged with illegally trading in minerals without a license.

There was an interesting development when one of the Chinese nationals standing trial in the case fainted in court during the hearing and was rushed to the court clinic.

According to the state prosecutor, they will need additional time for investigation after their last request for an extension on September 5.

However, counsel for the accused, Capt. (Rtd) Nkrabea Effah-Dartey, argued that the case was much ado about nothing, questioning why his clients had already been remanded for 14 days but were being denied bail for further investigations.

The presiding judge, Mr. Samuel Appiah, consequently refused the alleged illegal miners’ bail and postponed the hearing to Tuesday, September 27, 2021, adding the case is of public interest.

47-year old Aisha Huang, also known as En Huang, was previously detained and charged with illegal mining in May 2017.

In December 2018, the state withdrew its charges against her and she was reportedly deported to China.
