Ghana’s music industry came alive on Saturday night as the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) celebrated outstanding musical achievements with dazzling performances, emotional speeches and major wins for some of the country’s biggest stars.
The night belonged to Black Sherif, who was crowned Artiste of the Year after an impressive year marked by chart-topping songs, international recognition and a growing global fan base. The award cemented his position as one of Ghana’s leading music exports and one of the most influential voices of the new generation.
Black Sherif also secured the Album/EP of the Year award, further underlining his dominance in the industry.
Rapper Medikal emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night, taking home four awards including Best Hiplife/Hip-Hop Artiste, Best Hiplife Song, Best Collaboration and Most Popular Song of the Year for his hit track “Shoulder,” featuring Shatta Wale and Beeztrap KOTM.
Highlife musician Kofi Kinaata continued his impressive awards run with two wins, while fast-rising Ghanaian singer Moliy also earned recognition following the international success of the “Shake It To The Max” remix.
The awards ceremony, held at the Grand Arena in Accra, attracted leading figures in the entertainment industry, celebrities, music lovers and stakeholders who gathered to celebrate the growth and impact of Ghanaian music.
The event featured thrilling performances from several artistes across different genres, showcasing the diversity and creativity within Ghana’s music scene. Fashion also took centre stage as celebrities displayed glamorous and bold looks on the red carpet.
Other notable winners on the night included King Promise, Stonebwoy and Gyakie, all of whom were recognised for their contributions to the industry over the past year.
Organised annually by Charterhouse, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards remains Ghana’s premier music awards scheme, honouring excellence and promoting Ghanaian music both locally and internationally.
