On Tuesday, January 14, 2024, C-NERGY Global Holdings, a financial institution specialising in advisory and investment banking, donated a cheque for fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵50,000) to widows in Dodowa. The Chayil Foundation has supported these women over the years through skills training programs.
Speaking to The Sikaman Times during the event, Nana Amoto Mensah, Executive Director of C-NERGY Global Holdings, highlighted the company’s journey since its founding in 2014.
Reflecting on their 10-year milestone, he remarked that it has been God’s grace that has brought them this far. As part of their 10th-anniversary celebrations, they thought it wise to give the glory to Him by being a blessing to the underprivileged, such as the Dodowa Widows Association.
He noted that a week prior, the company had visited and supported the elderly, aged 70 and above. “So in 2014, when the vision was started, little did we know that we would go another 10 years doing this. God has been good to us. Our critical value is to touch human lives, and on the occasion of our 10th anniversary, we felt the best way to show gratitude to God was to bless the underprivileged. Last week, we met the aged, and today, we decided to visit our widows in Dodowa, partnering with the credible Chayil Foundation,” he acknowledged.
Nana Amoto Mensah explained that the donation was aimed at helping the widows lay the foundation for businesses they wish to start, given their prior training. “We are here today to show our gratitude to God and help our widows lay the foundation for their businesses. Our understanding is that they’ve gone through various training sessions, and it’s time to implement what they’ve learned. So, we decided to support this initiative with a token donation to empower the widows to care for themselves and their families. Ultimately, we believe that when they are blessed, their families are blessed, and together, we share what God has given us.”
He advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the money, transforming the lives of their families. Highlighting the company’s core mandate, Nana Amoto Mensah emphasized that though C-NERGY Global Holdings is registered in South Africa and headquartered there, it is owned by a Ghanaian, with most of its operations in Ghana. The company specialises in corporate finance, structured finance, and project finance and operates in four countries globally.
An analyst with C-NERGY Global Holdings, Emmanuel Mensah, educated the women on bookkeeping. He stressed the importance of bookkeeping for tracking financial transactions, noting, “It helps them know their profits or losses, boosts confidence in their businesses, and prevents unnecessary spending.” He also advised the widows to separate personal finances from business finances to ensure financial growth.
Eileen Oduraa Ninson, founder of The Chayil Foundation, revealed that financial training was crucial to complement the widows’ skills development. She expressed gratitude to C-NERGY Global Holdings for their support and promised that the money would be used cooperatively to fund three business initiatives. “When we conducted research, we observed that products like Azuma Blows (locally produced soap), tie-and-dye, and beading had high market potential. We plan to group the women into cooperatives to produce and sell these goods. Profits will be shared among them, with a portion reserved for the foundation’s future obligations.”
She added that the Azuma Blows project would serve as a test trial for scaling to other communities. Mrs. Ninson also called on other organisations to support the foundation’s work. “We are grateful to C-NERGY Global Holdings for making our dream of empowering these women possible. We hope to pilot this initiative successfully in Dodowa and replicate it in other parts of Ghana to align with the SDG goal of poverty reduction.”
Some executives of the widows’ group expressed gratitude, praying for the company’s growth and global expansion.
