The Centre for Financial Literacy Education Africa (CFLE Africa) continues to earn significant recognition on the continent, as its Executive Director, Peter Asare Nyarko, has once again been celebrated for his outstanding contributions to social impact and financial empowerment.
Mr Nyarko was honoured with the Social Entrepreneur Award at the 6th Mentorship & Volunteerism Excellence Awards, a prestigious platform dedicated to acknowledging individuals and institutions whose work is transforming lives and strengthening communities. Notably, this award was received in his absence, as he is currently engaged in international engagements, a testament to the global relevance of the mission he represents.
This latest recognition marks the second major honour bestowed upon Mr Nyarko for excellence in social entrepreneurship. In 2023, he was named Ghana’s Social Entrepreneur of the Year at the Young Entrepreneurs Award during the widely celebrated Ghana Startup Week. Together, these accolades highlight the consistency, innovation, and impact of his work in driving financial literacy and inclusion across Africa.
Under Mr Nyarko’s leadership, CFLE Africa has become a key player in advancing financial literacy, financial inclusion, and ethical financial education in Ghana and across the continent. The organisation’s programmes are anchored on the belief that financial awareness is a human right and that empowering individuals with essential money skills is a critical step toward poverty reduction, wealth creation, and economic stability.
Speaking on the significance of the award, Mr Nyarko described it as “a powerful reminder that the impact we are creating at CFLE Africa is being seen and valued.” He emphasized that Africa continues to grapple with one of its most pressing but often overlooked challenges: the widespread lack of financial awareness and the rapid rise in financial illiteracy, particularly among young people and vulnerable groups.
“Millions of Africans still lack access to ethical financial guidance, trustworthy information, and the foundational money skills needed to make informed decisions,” he noted. “This recognition strengthens our resolve to continue empowering individuals, families, and communities with the financial knowledge they need to thrive.”
CFLE Africa’s initiatives span school programmes, national financial literacy campaigns, youth entrepreneurship training, community workshops, advocacy drives, and partnerships with local and international institutions. The organisation also plays a leading role in initiatives such as the Improving Financial Awareness & Financial Literacy Movement in Africa, which aims to build a generation of financially responsible and economically empowered citizens.
Through these efforts, thousands of young people, workers, entrepreneurs, and families have gained access to life-changing financial education, equipping them with tools to build wealth, manage resources, avoid financial exploitation, and plan for sustainable futures.
A Call to Strengthen Africa’s Financial Literacy Agenda
The repeated recognition of Mr Nyarko’s work signals growing regional acknowledgement of the importance of financial literacy as a development driver. As Africa works toward economic resilience, youth empowerment, and inclusive growth, organisations like CFLE Africa continue to demonstrate that financial education is not just a support tool; it is a catalyst for transformation.
CFLE Africa expresses its gratitude to the organisers of the Mentorship & Volunteerism Excellence Awards and reaffirms its commitment to advancing financial empowerment across the continent.
