The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a man captured in a viral Facebook video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife at their home in Ofankor, in the Ga East Municipality.
In a statement issued on 18 November 2025, the CID said the suspect, John Odartey Lamptey, was arrested on Monday, 17 November 2025, at the family residence.
According to the statement, two of his siblings — Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey — were also arrested after they allegedly attempted to attack a female tenant they suspected of recording and circulating the video. Police said the tenant “was rescued to ensure her safety.”
The statement added that efforts are currently underway to locate the victim, who fled the scene before officers arrived.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that perpetrators face the full rigour of the law,” the CID said.
