The Centre for Financial Literacy Education Africa (CFLE Africa) will host the fifth edition of its National Estate & Gift Planning Awareness Conference from October 9 to 10, 2026, with a focus on preserving intergenerational wealth and improving wealth transfer planning.
The conference, scheduled for 9:00 a.m. each day at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), will be held under the theme, “From Wealth Creation to Wealth Transfer: Preserving Intergenerational Wealth to Enhance Economic Development & Prosperity.”
CFLE Africa Executive Director, Peter Nyarko said the conference is intended to shift attention beyond wealth creation to the equally important issues of wealth preservation, succession and transfer.
“What happens to the wealth you work so hard to build when you are no longer here?” Mr Nyarko said, highlighting the need for individuals and families to consider how their assets will be managed and transferred after their lifetime.
He said wealth creation was only one part of the financial journey, stressing that proper succession and transfer planning could determine whether accumulated wealth becomes a lasting family legacy or creates uncertainty and disputes.
“Wealth creation is only one part of the journey. Wealth preservation, succession and transfer determine whether what you build becomes a lasting legacy, or the beginning of a family battle,” he said.
The conference is expected to bring together professionals and stakeholders from banking, pensions, law, academia, financial services and wealth management to examine approaches to preserving family wealth across generations.
Mr Nyarko said the discussions would also consider the broader economic implications of private wealth, particularly how well-planned wealth transfer could contribute to family stability and national development.
According to the organisers, the two-day event will feature expert insights and practical perspectives on estate and gift planning, with discussions aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of planning for the transfer of assets.
CFLE Africa said the conference is designed not only as a professional gathering but also as a platform for broader conversations on legacy, financial literacy and responsible wealth management.
The organisation is inviting individuals, families, institutions and organisations interested in estate and gift planning to participate in the conference or explore partnership and sponsorship opportunities.
The 2026 National Estate & Gift Planning Awareness Conference is being held in partnership with the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), through its Faculty of Accounting and Finance, the Ghana Association of Banks, KPMG Ghana, the GhanaThink Foundation and The Financial Awareness Foundation.
