It has emerged that GWR cook-a-thon contender Chef Smith has not surpassed Irish Alan Fisher’s record, as announced by him and his team on Tuesday.
Chef Smith, formally known as Ebenezer Smith, called a press conference at the Labadi Beach Hotel to declare that the chef is now the new GWR title holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual), achieving 802 hours and 25 minutes.
But some moments later, checks by some Ghanaian media houses, who had initially “broken the news,” revealed that Smith’s declaration is false.
According to an inquiry email sent by EIB Network’s Edem Kojo to GWR PR Manager, Madalyn Biefeld, Smith’s assertion of annexing the World Cook-a-Thon title is not true.
“No, it is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title, and that is not our certificate.”
“The current and true current record holder is:
“The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from 28 September to 3 October 2023,” Biefeld said this in her response to Edem.
It is unclear the reason for Chef Smith’s announcement, but his team has yet to provide explanations for the fiasco.
Meanwhile, the La Police have arrested Chef Smith following the incident, and placed him in custody, assisting with investigations.
Also, The Sikaman Times can report that most media outlets that published the untrue GWR win by Chef Smith have pulled their posts down.
