The Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo, has died at the age of 59.
Dr Bampoe Addo passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 at the Lighthouse Hospital in Accra, after a brief illness, according to reports confirmed by sources close to CLOGSAG.
Affectionately known as “Marico,” Dr Bampoe Addo was a prominent figure in Ghana’s organised labour movement and served for several years as the face of CLOGSAG in negotiations with successive governments.
As Executive Secretary, he played a leading role in national negotiations, industrial actions and engagements with government and other stakeholders on issues affecting public sector workers.
He was also involved in shaping the association’s institutional policies and advocating for improved conditions of service.
He served as Chairman of the Forum of Public Sector Registered Pension Schemes, through which he led public sector unions in campaigns over the management and transfer of workers’ Tier Two pension contributions.
