The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike for its members across the country, directing staff within the civil and local government services to stay at home beginning Monday, March 9, 2026.
In a circular dated March 5, 2026, and signed by the association’s Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, the union announced that the industrial action will continue until further notice.
The directive was addressed to the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS), the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), regional secretariats of the association, and all members nationwide.
According to the statement, the decision follows earlier notice issued by the National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG indicating the association’s intention to embark on industrial action due to unresolved concerns affecting its members.
“As you are aware, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) on Thursday, 19th February 2026 gave notice of the intention of its members to proceed on an industrial action,” the statement said.
The union noted that despite the prior notice, the issues that triggered the warning have not been resolved, compelling the association to activate the strike directive.
“The issues remain unresolved and as a result, all staff of the Civil Service and Local Government Service are enjoined to stay at home with effect from Monday, 9th March, 2026 until further notice,” the statement added.
