A group called the Concerned National Service Personnel, representing national service personnel in the Central Region has communicated notice of their intention to begin a strike action, effective May 30th, 2022.
In a statement signed by the organisers, the group complained about consistent delays in the payment of monthly allowances, adding that till date, the allowances for April 2022 are yet to be paid.
According to the group, this has led to a “worsening of the plight of the National Service Personnel.”
“Upon the many attempts to draw your attention to our plight, but to no avail, we have resolved to withdraw ourselves from any kind of work, effective Monday, May 30th 2022,” they declared.
Meanwhile, one of the organisers of the group, Bless Amankwah, told The Sikaman Times in a telephone interview on Saturday that following their statement, they have received calls from the central regional and national executives of the National Service Scheme, who have arranged to meet with them.
However, Mr. Amankwah stressed that they would not agree to any proposal to delay their allowances any longer.
He also explained that, although the group constitutes personnel within the Central Region, they have the solidarity of all national service personnel in the country.
