Difficulties await you in 2025; be measured in your promises – Manasseh Awuni advises Mahama

Award-winning investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has issued a warning to former President John Dramani Mahama, cautioning him about the challenges that may await if he secures victory in the next election.

In a Facebook post on November 22, 2023, Manasseh urged Mahama to approach the upcoming political landscape with caution, emphasising the concealed difficulties facing the nation.

“If you think this nation is in a mess, wait until you win the next election and assume office. If that happens, you will realise that Ghana is worse than we are made to believe,” Manasseh said.

He pointed out the presence of hardened criminals in the current administration, warning of deals that could continue to drain state coffers even after a change in leadership.

The journalist pressed Mahama to be prudent in making promises, saying, “So, be measured in your promises. Any reasonable human being in this country knows that the next government won’t be able to do much.”

He further urged Mahama to focus on policies that would restore accountability while promoting drastic legal and constitutional reforms.

“Focus on how to rein in your own men and women, those who will use your presidency to loot for their political futures.”

“Take drastic legal and constitutional reforms to save this country. If you win in 2024, you won’t have any elections to contest. You’re properly placed to make tough decisions,” he added.

Manasseh argued that Mahama’s legacy should be measured not just by physical infrastructure but also by his resolve against those undermining the nation, both within and outside his circle.
