The University of Ghana has confirmed the shocking death of Mr. Dennis Twumasi Ankrah, an MSc student on the UGBS-UPSA road, on Tuesday night.

A blogger, @SIKAOFFICIAL1, posted on X on Wednesday that the deceased was using the stretch between 8 and 9 p.m. back to his hostel on the fateful day when the robbers who were hiding in the bush attacked him.

A UGBS Master’s student met his unfortunate demise on the UPSA-UGBS stretch, yesterday, November 21, 2023.

According to the report, Dennis had attempted to prevent the robbers from taking away his valuables, but in the process, the robbers forcibly shoved him onto the street, where an oncoming vehicle hit him.

Unfortunately, Dennis was pronounced dead on arrival when he was rushed to the University Hospital in Legon.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Thursday, November 23, 2023, the University of Ghana (Business School) said: “The management of the UGBS has taken note of the sad and regrettable incident of the passing of our student, Mr. Dennis Twumasi-Ankrah.”

“Dennis was a student in our MSc Procurement and Supply Chain (weekend) programme. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”

The university also asked the public to desist from disseminating false reports about the death of Dennis, adding that the incident is still being investigated by the police.

“We caution the public to desist from peddling unsubstantiated claims about the cause of his death. The police are still investigating the cause of his death, and we will update the general public upon receipt of the police report.”

Eyewitnesses reveal to The Sikaman Times that this is not the first time such an incident has happened on that stretch.
