Founder and presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) for the 2024 elections, Akua Donkor, has passed away.
According to sources from The Sikaman Times, Madam Donkor died on Monday night at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
Since founding her party in 2012, she has consistently represented GFP as its presidential candidate, although she was disqualified by the Electoral Commission in the 2012 and 2016 elections.
Known for her outspoken and humour-laced approach to national issues, Madam Donkor captured public attention and was widely regarded as a vibrant and committed advocate for farmers’ and women’s rights in Ghana.
Her last major public appearance was at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, where she joined other political leaders and publicly refuted comments by NDC flagbearer John Mahama, who suggested that smaller parties should not be prioritised by voters in the upcoming December 7 elections.
