The Ministry of the Interior has announced the temporary closure of all land borders across Ghana as part of measures to safeguard the integrity of the December 7 general elections.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry disclosed that the closure took immediate effect and will remain in force until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
Henry Quartey, the Minister for the Interior, signed the directive and called on the public and travellers to cooperate fully with state security agencies tasked with enforcing the measure.
“This action is necessary to maintain the security and integrity of the election process. We appeal to all citizens, as well as those travelling to and from Ghana, to comply with the directive during this period,” the Ministry stated.
