Fresh polling data from Global InfoAnalytics suggests that former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia remains the clear front-runner in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race.
However, a significant proportion of delegates remain undecided, leaving room for surprises as the contest heats up.
The survey indicates that 57.4% of the general voting public prefer Dr Bawumia as the next leader of the NPP, compared to 29.3% for Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong. Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum came in third with 6.0%, followed by Dr Bryan Acheampong (4.6%) and Ing. Kwabena Agyepong (3.3%).
However, among NPP delegates — whose votes ultimately determine the party’s flagbearer — the picture is more complex. While 47% back Dr Bawumia, 27% remain undecided, and Kennedy Agyapong secures 17%. The rest of the contenders, including Adutwum, Acheampong, and Kwabena Agyepong, collectively command less than 6% of delegate support.
Global InfoAnalytics noted that the results reflect both voter sentiment and the delicate dynamics of internal party politics.
The undecided bloc could become kingmakers as the party moves closer to its presidential primaries, with lobbying, alliances, and strategic positioning expected to intensify in the coming months.
