The government is set to embark on a nationwide exercise to patch potholes, the Roads and Highways Ministry has stated.
In a statement on Thursday, February 15, 2024, the Ministry said that the release is part of the 1st quarter releases by the Ministry of Finance.
The Roads ministry said that “the intervention is to enable the Ghana Highways Authority and the Department of Urban Roads to take advantage of the dry season to undertake routine pothole patching activities on some major roads that deteriorated last year due to heavy rains.”
The Ministry expressed the hope that the exercise will help reduce the risks of accidents and prolong the lifespan of the country’s road network.
Last year, the Roads and Highways Ministry blamed the numerous potholed roads on the rainy season, shoving off claims of shoddy work by critics.
