The Northern Development Authority (NDA) has announced that all Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Projects (IPEP), popularly known as the “One Million Dollars per Constituency Projects“, has been officially transferred to the respective District Assemblies.
According to the Authority, the government’s directive is aimed at strengthening decentralisation and ensuring the effective completion and management of community infrastructure projects at the local level.
In line with this directive, 20 per cent of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) has been earmarked for the completion of all ongoing and uncompleted IPEP projects.
“The Northern Development Authority has submitted a comprehensive status report on these projects to the five Regional Coordinating Councils in Northern Ghana to guide the transition and follow-up actions,” the NDA stated in a press release issued on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
The Authority further urged District Assemblies requiring additional details to contact its regional offices for further information and technical support.
The IPEP initiative, introduced in 2017, was designed to channel $1 million worth of development projects annually to each constituency across the country, focusing on priority areas such as education, health, water and sanitation, and rural infrastructure.
With this transfer, oversight and execution responsibilities now rest fully with the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), a move expected to enhance accountability and promote faster project delivery.
The NDA reaffirmed its commitment to providing technical guidance and coordination to ensure that the projects continue to deliver tangible benefits to communities across Northern Ghana.
