The Alliance for Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA) has told the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to take steps to make reforms in his administration as the party prepares to contest the 2024 elections.
In a statement to congratulate the new flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the group believes that a shake-up in the government will help inspire confidence in the government in its bid to “break the eight”.
“AFFA also seizes this opportunity to reiterate our call on President Akufo-Addo to pay attention to the sentiments of the party people and effect major shake-ups in his government to inspire hope and confidence”, the statement read.
The group also advised government appointees to stay clear of self-centred and prideful postures if the party is to remain in power.
“Government appointees—Ministers, Deputy Ministers, MCEs, CEOs, et al.—must eschew selfishness and arrogance and prioritise the concerns of the very party people who pushed them to the top.”
AFFA further called on all party faithfuls and aspirants in last Saturday’s presidential primaries to rally behind Dr. Bawumia as the new leader while pledging their support to the party in its electoral fortunes.
“After competitions, there must be cooperation, and it is our expectation that all aspirants in the just-ended presidential primaries and their supporters will join hands to prosecute the 2024 election campaign”.
“As footsoldiers, we pledge our unflinching support and loyalty to the Flagbearer and the party to achieve the ultimate goal—break the 8.”
