Comparing Mahama and Bawumia is a bad strategy – Kpessa-Whyte to NDC

Former NDC Parliamentary aspirant for Shai-Osudoku and senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, has advised his party against comparing John Dramani Mahama with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In an X post on Monday, November 6, 2023, he observed that comparing the two is a bad political strategy that will not aid the political fortunes of the NDC.

Dr. Kpessa-Whyte stated that Dr. Bawumia comes off as a “problem” while former President Mahama is a “solution”; hence, according to him, the two personalities are incomparable.

“My dear NDC colleagues, stop the comparison between John Mahama and Bawumia. Let’s focus on what John Mahama will do to revive the economy.”

“Comparing a “problem” and a “solution” is a bad strategy. Instead, use the solution to solve the problem. Elections are about the future”, Dr. Kpessa-Whyte opined.

On Sunday, social media followers of the largest opposition party shared several posts purportedly comparing the economic performance of Mr. Mahama and Dr. Bawumia in their respective roles as Vice President.

Dr. Bawumia was elected as the new NPP flagbearer on Saturday, beating off competition from his closest rival, Kennedy Agyapong, and becoming the first Muslim and non-Akan to be elected flagbearers of the NPP.

John Mahama, on the other hand, was re-elected NDC flagbearer in May 2023, securing an overwhelming 90% of the total valid votes.
