The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has been honoured as the Most Impactful Member of Parliament in Ghana at the 2025 AFLAG Awards Ceremony.
The prestigious event was held in Accra on November 15, 2025, and brought together distinguished personalities from across the country to celebrate excellence in leadership and public service.
The award recognises Hon. Cudjoe’s outstanding contributions to development and social welfare in the Amenfi Central Constituency. Since assuming office, she has implemented several interventions aimed at improving the lives of her constituents, with particular focus on women, youth, teachers, students, and the aged.
She has empowered many young people by providing sewing machines and financial support to aspiring entrepreneurs to help them establish their own businesses. In the health sector, Hon. Cudjoe has championed breast cancer awareness and organised comprehensive health screening exercises, with medical professionals attending to residents.
To address basic needs, the MP has facilitated the drilling of boreholes to improve access to clean water in various communities. She has also demonstrated a strong commitment to social protection by supporting the healthcare needs of the elderly. In education, she has supplied learning materials to teachers to enhance effective teaching and supported brilliant but needy students to pursue secondary and tertiary education.
Owing to her charity work, compassion, and dedication to development, she has earned the affectionate title “Woman Gaddafi” in the Wassa Amenfi Central Constituency.
The award was received on her behalf by a volunteer of the Joana Gyan Cudjoe Foundation, Madam Thelma Nunoo, who used the occasion to urge other Members of Parliament to emulate Hon. Cudjoe’s leadership style.
“Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe has taken it upon herself to respond to the needs of her constituents, both adults and children. Other MPs must learn from her example and commit themselves to solving problems in their constituencies,” Ms. Nunoo said.
Expressing gratitude to the organisers, Ms. Nunoo noted that the recognition reflects the visible impact of the MP’s work.
“No words can fully explain how happy we are to receive this award. It shows that people see and appreciate what Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe is doing, not only in Amenfi Central but across Ghana,” she stated.
She added that the award would further inspire the MP to expand her development agenda.
“This recognition will motivate her to do more. What she has done so far is just the beginning. She is coming to undertake massive and greater projects, including building more schools, drilling additional mechanised boreholes, constructing roads, and implementing many other initiatives.”
She concluded with prayers for divine strength and guidance for Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe as she continues to serve the people of Wassa Amenfi Central and Ghana at large.
