The Presbyterian Nursing Training College (PNTMC) is set to reopen on August 5th, 2022 after a long break following disturbances that erupted in the municipality.

The school will be reopened following a recommendation from the advisory board of governors of the college and assurance given by the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), which has committed to providing maximum security for both students and staff.

According to a directive issued by the school authorities, “In connection with the reopening of the college, amidst the crisis at Bawku ,the authorities write to authorise the reopening of the college for academic work to start in Bawku on August 5, 2022.”

“By this directive, all registered general nursing (i.e. first, second, and third) and post-basic midwifery students are to report for resumption of teaching and learning activities at the college,” the release continued.

Peace and tranquility have eluded the Bawku Municipality since November 2021 following a chieftaincy dispute between Kusaasi and Mamprusis that led to the closure of the school and other business centres in the area, particularly in the Kusaug Traditional Area in the Upper East Region.
