Apostle Ing. Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana and widely known as the “Star of Africa,” has reportedly passed away.
Family sources and church insiders confirmed the news on Sunday, 14 September, though reports indicate he died on Thursday, 11 September 2025.
Apostle Safo, an engineer, inventor, philanthropist, and preacher, rose to prominence in the 1980s when he established Kristo Asafo. Over the decades, the church evolved into a movement that combined spiritual teachings with technological innovation and social interventions.
Often hailed as a pioneer of indigenous technology, Apostle Safo’s inventions included locally manufactured vehicles, farm machinery, and electronic devices. His annual technology exhibitions drew national attention, attracting dignitaries, academics, and Ghanaians from all walks of life eager to see his latest creations.
Beyond his engineering exploits, Apostle Safo was known for his extensive charitable works, which included providing educational scholarships, agricultural training, and healthcare support to thousands across the country.
Tributes have begun to pour in on social media, with many describing him as a visionary leader who embodied self-reliance and African ingenuity.
Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in a statement, described Apostle Safo as a man whose influence transcended religion.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
