President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for the United Kingdom and Switzerland to participate in high-level meetings linked to the Accra Reset Initiative and the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency Communications, the President left the country on Sunday, January 11, 2026, en route to the United Kingdom, where he is scheduled to hold discussions with coordinators of the Accra Reset Initiative.
The statement noted that President Mahama will subsequently proceed to Davos, Switzerland, to take part in a session of the World Economic Forum, which brings together global political and business leaders to deliberate on pressing economic and development issues.
“The President will also continue to Davos in Switzerland to participate in a session of the World Economic Forum,” the release said.
On the margins of the forum, President Mahama is expected to engage in a series of bilateral meetings with selected world leaders, aimed at strengthening Ghana’s international partnerships and advancing the country’s economic recovery and reform agenda.
Confirming the trip, the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the engagements form part of efforts to reposition Ghana within the global economic space.
“President Mahama is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with some world leaders on the sidelines of the Davos Forum,” Mr Ofosu stated.
The World Economic Forum in Davos serves as a key global platform for dialogue on economic growth, development financing, climate action and geopolitical cooperation.
