“Mahama is a man of integrity” – Aide reacts to OSP’s report

The Office of John Dramani Mahama says the former President is a man of integrity and would not be deterred by the distractions of his political opponents.

Responding to the report by the Office of the Special Prosector clearing Mr. Mahama of corruption in the Airbus allegations, Special Aide Joyce Bawa Mogtari expressed her satisfaction about the OSP’s ruling.

“The OSP’s ruling reaffirmed what we have already known: John Mahama is a man of integrity, a leader committed to the principles of honesty and transparency,” Mahama’s Aide said in a statement on August 8.

Bawa Mogtari scolded the ruling government for their fixation in pursuing the case to tarnish the image of Mr. Mahama despite a UK Serious Fraud Office ruling exonerating him.

“Despite the UK’s Serious Fraud Office clarifying that Mahama’s brother and others involved had no case to answer, the ruling government persisted in framing this scandal as a tool for political advantage.”

“We also note the OSP’s revelation that President Nana Akufo-Addo personally requested that President Mahama be investigated. This casts an even darker shadow on the motives behind the initial accusations, which were planted to tarnish the reputation of an innocent man.”

“The lies and fabricated stories against President Mahama over the last eight years have been consistently proven false.”

She further urged President Nana Akufo Addo and Dr. Bawumia “to subject themselves to equal scrutiny and transparency as we strive for accountability in our leadership.”

On Thursday, the OSP said its investigations into the Airbus case did not point to any evidence of bribery on the part of Mr. Mahama, although the latter’s involvement had the potential to raise suspicions of influence peddling and conflict of interest.
