President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed outgoing Chief of Army Staff, Major Thomas Oppong-Peprah, as the Chief of Defence Staff, effective February 1, 2024.

This follows the retirement of the outgoing CDS Vice Admiral, Seth Amoama.

In a statement on Wednesday, signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, the President expressed his gratitude to Vice Admiral Amoamo for his devotion and meritorious service to the Ghana Armed Forces during his tenure.

Meanwhile, Major General Oppong Peprah will be replaced by Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona as Chief of Army Staff.

Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu and Air Vice Marshall Federick Asare Kwasi Bekoe will continue in their positions as Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Air Staff, respectively.
