Elected parliamentary candidate for Trobu at the just-ended NPP primaries, Gloria Owusu has expressed gratitude to the Almighty God and party faithfuls who rallied behind her and ensured her victory over incumbent Hon. Moses Anim.
Addressing party supporters on Saturday, January 27, 2024, after the declaration of the results, she said what made her push hard until she obtained victory was the unsavoury comments that were peddled by the followers of the current member of parliament.
According to her, she prayed to the Lord Almighty to grant her victory with just a little margin, to put her detractors to shame.
“If you weigh the lies and words that were peddled by the Member of Parliament and his team, you would understand that God does listen to prayer. I prayed to God and told Him that if He is living and faithful, as He has always been to me and to the many across the globe who He has been answerable to, then He should give me victory over my big brother, thus the former parliamentarian with just a little over the votes that he will have, so that I will win over him, and my wish and prayer, the Faithful One has honoured,” Madam Owusu said.
She thanked the men and women alike who left their busy schedules to come and support her and who, through their hard work, have unseated the current MP.
According to her, this is just the beginning of the bigger battle ahead, thus rallying the support of all constituents for their continued support.
“I can’t stop thanking you for giving me this opportunity, but we all know the task ahead is much bigger than this, and the task ahead is to go break the 8 in December, so please remember me in your prayers and let’s work much harder because we indeed can break the 8 with God on our side,” she added.
Madam Owusu also revealed her plans to visit Hon. Moses Anim to iron out any differences that may have arisen during their respective campaigns and to solicit his support in order ahead of the main elections in December.
Saturday’s voting in the Trobu Constituency took place at the St. Johns Grammar School in Achimota.
At the end of the polls, Gloria Owusu garnered 698 votes as against the incumbent, who had 641 votes. The total votes cast were 1346, while the rejected ballots counted were 7.
