The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has confirmed that the Ranking Member of the Interior and Defence Committee of Parliament, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has been arrested at his residence in Accra.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Mr. Kodua stated that he had received information indicating that operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) had stormed the MP’s home to effect the arrest.
“N.I.B. currently at Hon. Ntim Fordjour’s house to arrest him. #SayNoToStateIntimidation,” the NPP General Secretary posted.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour has recently made headlines after accusing the government of involvement in drug trafficking and money laundering activities. He alleged that two suspicious aircraft had landed and remained at the Kotoka International Airport under questionable circumstances.
While the government has consistently called on the Assin South MP to provide evidence to substantiate his claims, Rev. Fordjour maintains that the burden is on the government to prove its innocence and come clean on the matter.
Meanwhile, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and other members of the Minority Caucus have expressed solidarity with their colleague. They have described the arrest as an act of intimidation and have vowed that they will not sit idly by while such actions are carried out.
