#OccupyJulorbiHouse to picket at Presidency from 1st to 31st December

Leaders of Democracy Hub, aka FixTheCountry Movement, say they plan to embark on a fresh series of protests from December 1 to December 31, 2023, over the country’s economic predications.

In a statement on Monday, the group noted that the move is to register their displeasure with the mismanagement of the economy by the governing NPP and to force President Nana Akufo Addo to resign.

“Democracy Hub believes the President’s stewardship of this country demonstrates incompetence, lack of integrity, routine abuse of power and greed. We are perturbed by the high levels of persistence,” the statement read in part.

They noted that the protest will be in the form of a picket at the frontage of the Jubilee House for the entire 31 days in December 2023.

With the hashtags #OccupyJulorbiHouse and #JustResign, the organisers are demanding, among other things, that the President “resign immediately or be impeached by Parliament”, and the prosecution of corrupt public officials and persons aligned with the Presidency.

According to the statement, the protest will also be used to advocate for “progressive Constitutional reforms that that will provide a better framework for social equity and economic justice for our people, as well as confront the abuse of power and impunity more squarely”.

The statement further stated that guidelines on the protest will be shared in due course, including plans to ensure its peacefulness.
