The Ministry of Education has activated the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal for candidates of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Out of 590,309 eligible students, 483,800—representing 82 percent—have gained admission into Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and Technical and Vocational Institutions (TVIs) nationwide.
Deputy Minister of Education Clement Apaak announced the release of placements on September 17 at 8 p.m., noting that 248,038 females (51.4%) and 234,783 males (48.6%) had secured places. He explained that 107,509 candidates, about 18 per cent, were not matched with their preferred schools due to intense competition for slots in top-tier institutions.
He encouraged these students to use the self-placement module to select available schools and assured them that solution centres have been set up to assist candidates experiencing technical difficulties.
“This milestone reflects our continued progress in widening access to secondary education,” Apaak said.
The Deputy Minister also issued a stern caution to parents and guardians against paying bribes to secure placements.
“Placement is absolutely free,” he stressed. “Anyone who demands payment, whether a ministry official or an intermediary, should be reported immediately to the police or the Office of the Special Prosecutor.”
