The Accra Regional Police Command has arraigned nine individuals before the Adabraka District Court for their alleged involvement in a violent assault on one Mutala Yayaa at Darkuman earlier this month.

The incident, which occurred on 10 September 2025 and was captured on video circulating on social media, showed the victim being attacked by a group of men. According to police, the assailants allegedly used dangerous weapons, including a cutlass, axe, and scissors, leaving Yayaa with deep wounds on his head and body.

The suspects have been named as Bernard Tagoe, alias “Asa Sese,” Nii Eric Martey, Michael Lokko, Felix Adu Mensah, Habib Gusamu, Solomon Assan, Kwame Khalid, Jacob Addy, and Gideon Arthur. Four other suspects, identified as Yaala, Show, Joseph Gattor, Savess, and John Km, are currently at large.

All nine accused pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and causing harm. The court subsequently remanded them into police custody, with the case adjourned to 29 September 2025.

Police say efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the remaining suspects to assist with investigations.

In a statement, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Regional Police Command, cautioned the public against resorting to violence in settling disputes.

She urged community members to use lawful channels in addressing grievances rather than taking matters into their own hands.
