A pastor based in Cape Coast has been remanded into custody after appearing before a court over allegations that he recorded nude videos of children on his mobile phone.

The accused, Reverend Dr. Ebenezer Conduah, head pastor of Mahanaim Christian Centre at Ankaful, was brought before the Adenta Circuit Court in Accra on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

He faces two provisional charges under the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) relating to indecent images of a child and allegedly using a child for sexual exploitation. The court did not take his plea.

The cleric is already standing trial on a separate defilement charge before the Cape Coast Circuit Court.

According to prosecutors, a video discovered on the suspect’s phone allegedly showed a naked child holding a white card bearing the web address of a well-known pornographic website while a male voice directed the child to say they were on the platform.

“During interrogation, the accused confirmed that he recorded the video and that the voice heard in the background was his,” the prosecutor told the court.

The investigation began after the Cyber Security Authority received a request from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast to conduct forensic analysis on the pastor’s digital devices in connection with several defilement cases.

Police arrested the suspect on March 6, 2026, at his residence at Woraba in Eguase, Cape Coast. A search of the apartment reportedly uncovered several items believed to be relevant to the investigation.

“A search of the apartment resulted in the retrieval of exhibits, including five mobile phones, two hard drives, two memory cards, one computer system unit, sex toys, and female panties, which were retained for evidential purposes,” the prosecutor told the court.

The suspect has since been remanded in prison custody.
