The General Manager of Quick Angels Limited, Emmanuel Lamptey, has pledged the company’s continued investment in businesses, adding expertise and connecting them with people, to ensure their success and propel them to higher succession levels.
Speaking at the launch of the Pizzaman-Chickenman’s Ring Road branch on Thursday, July 25, Mr. Lamptey said that Quick Angels, as an investor, starts making profit when the companies it has invested in start thriving.
According to him, Quick Angels Limited, the first angel investor in Ghana, are active investors, providing not just finance but expertise and connections and working to bring the best out of businesses.
“I mean, I have not seen the kinds of what we do so far in Ghana, and in Ghana, we are the very foremost Angel Investor Company that so far exists in our country. We do what we call equity financing, so we invest in start-up businesses, and we invest in existing companies in exchange for equity,” he said.
“We are not just investors but are active investors, unlike what the banks and other financial institutions do where they lend monies or inject debts in businesses and sit back. We work with you; we give you not just finance; we bring on board our expertise; we bring on board our know-how; we bring on board our connections; and it is only at a point that the business develops and starts to make money that, as equity investors, we also make money. So, we are very firm and strong on our investment,” he added.
Mr. Lamptey explained that for Quick Angels to invest in a business, the owner must be able to effectively communicate the vision, plans, and growth prospects for their consideration.
“Our doors are always opened; we look out for smart business ideas. You should be able to communicate; you should be able to explain what your dream is, what business you are doing, and its impact on employment in Ghana and on our economy and how profitable it can be,” explained.
For his part, Chief Executive Officer of Pizzaman-Chickenman, Christian Boakye-Yiadom, says that what motivates the company to open more branches, currently numbering 63, is the enterprise and hard work of the Ghanaian youth.
According to him, this gives them enough reasons for them to continue doing more, hinting at the possibility of employing more young people in the near future.
Expansion plans
On expansion plans, Mr. Boakye Yiadom said that they are working feverishly to open 32 new branches, 6 in Accra and 2 in Kumasi, with the remaining 24 in the other regions.
He also revealed plans of establishing the same line of business in some parts of Africa where most Ghanaians reside.
E-commerce fraud
The CEO apologised to victims of online scams and acknowledged the limitations of existing measures by the company to combat the issue, adding that it is a national problem.
“This issue of online scammers is a very serious one, and I would like to use this platform to apologise to all victims of the fraud. We have been putting in measures to curb this, but I can say it is not enough.”
“Some of these measures are beyond us; we are just individuals who are trying in our very small way to bring a stop to a national problem, I will say, because we are not the only restaurant suffering from this canker, so I would like to appeal if there is anyone in higher authority who can help us stop these unscrupulous people who are defrauding our innocent clients. I will be very grateful.
He urged customers to use their new app named Wizbid for the purpose of making orders or contact them through their centralised phone number.
He further cautioned customers not to make payments when they have not received their ordered foods.
